Collection: Tolpuddle Vineyard

Tolpuddle Vineyard is one of Tasmania’s most highly regarded and sought-after wine producers, with a reputation built on exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Established in 1988, the vineyard takes its name from the original Tolpuddle Martyrs, a group of English agricultural workers whose story is closely connected to the early settlement of Tasmania.

Located in Tasmania’s Coal River Valley, the vineyard benefits from a cool maritime climate, low rainfall and long, slow ripening conditions. The site’s combination of climate, soils and natural exposure provides an ideal environment for producing wines with remarkable purity, concentration and finesse. Rather than relying on sheer power, Tolpuddle’s wines are defined by their balance, precision and ability to express both variety and place.

The vineyard was purchased by Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith in 2006, and their involvement marked the beginning of a new chapter for Tolpuddle. Under the direction of winemaker Adam Wadewitz, the estate has gone from strength to strength, with a particular focus on producing world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from its single vineyard.

Tolpuddle’s wines have since become benchmarks for cool-climate Australian Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, earning an impressive following both in Australia and internationally. They combine beautifully pure fruit with fine structure, subtle oak, vibrant acidity and impressive length, while having the elegance and balance to develop gracefully with age.

With limited production and consistently high demand, Tolpuddle releases are rarely around for long. For lovers of refined, cool-climate Australian wine, they are among the most compelling expressions of Tasmania’s potential.
