Tolpuddle Chardonnay 2024

Following a dry winter, the 2024 season at Tolpuddle was marked by well-timed rainfall throughout spring and summer, coupled with mild, sunny conditions during ripening. These ideal conditions led to strong vine growth, even ripening, and moderate yields—a vintage widely regarded as one of the best on record.

Hand-picked fruit was whole-bunch pressed and fermented in French oak, where the wine remained for ten months with gentle bâtonnage as needed. It then spent a further four months in tank on lees to build texture and complexity.

Fine, precise, and beautifully composed, it opens with aromas of white nectarine, sugar snap pea, and fennel, underpinned by a subtle flicker of struck match. The palate is taut and elegant, driven by Tolpuddle’s hallmark acidity and a chalky, mineral texture that adds depth and finesse.
