About This Wine:

A deeply personal tribute to co-founder David Anderson’s father, Alan’s Cabernets is one of Wild Duck Creek’s most profound and age-worthy wines. A blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Cabernet Franc, a touch of Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot, it is sourced from select estate-grown blocks in Heathcote, planted on rich, ancient Cambrian soils.

Fruit is hand-harvested at full physiological ripeness, then fermented in small open fermenters with regular hand-plunging for maximum extraction. Post-fermentation, the wine is basket-pressed and transferred to French oak barriques (typically 100% new) for extended maturation—often 24–30 months. No fining or filtration ensures purity and power are retained.

The wine opens with intense aromatics of blackcurrant, cedar, violets and cigar box, backed by graphite, dark chocolate and savoury spice. The palate is full-bodied and structured, with immense depth of fruit, tightly woven tannins and remarkable length. A serious, cellar-worthy red that speaks of both place and legacy — best enjoyed with patience.
