Thick as Thieves Plump Pinot Noir

50% whole-bunch fermented across three open-pot ferments, sourced from the Home Block’s 27-year-old MV6 (own roots) and ABEL (grafted) clones. Unfined and unfiltered.

Opens with lifted notes of cranberry, rosehip and beetroot, alongside a gentle reductive edge that softens with air to reveal dried herbs and ginger root. The palate is light to medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and crunchy wild strawberry, raspberry and red cherry. Hints of orange peel and anise weave through the dry, savoury profile, all carried by a refreshing acid line to a balanced, moreish finish.

“Feels fine and minerally, somewhat tight, not quite, just this minerally feel to the wine with the detail of red cherry, cranberry, pomegranate juice and some blood orange tang too. It feels so frisky, lively and bright, kind of thirst quenching in its style with a web of fine, lacy tannins tightening beautifully. Energetic pinot noir with coolness and calm, a good dose of green herbs and spice. Plump? No. There’s a green thread through the wine.
