About This Wine:

Southern Light Vineyards Ghostgum Pinot Noir is a powerful and structured cool-climate Pinot Noir that reflects the unique character of the high-altitude Ghostgum Vineyard in the Mornington Peninsula.

The final blend is sourced from three estate blocks planted between 1994 and 2002, with naturally low yields producing fruit of exceptional concentration. Hand-picked and fermented with 12.5% whole bunches, the wine spends 12 days on skins before maturing for 12 months in French oak, 25% of which is new. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, it retains both purity and complexity.

Bright ruby with a hint of maroon, the nose is deeply aromatic, revealing juniper, aniseed, wild raspberry and graphite, layered with subtle forest-floor and undergrowth notes. The bouquet is both savoury and expressive, hinting at the wine's depth and precision.

The palate is tightly knit and beautifully structured, offering vibrant flavours of blood plum, rhubarb and peppery spice supported by fine tannins and lively natural acidity. A mineral thread runs throughout, carrying the wine to a long, complex and finely balanced finish.

A serious, age-worthy Pinot Noir that combines power with finesse, showcasing the concentration and elegance that define exceptional cool-climate fruit.

"A GARRULOUS INDULGENCE OF ROSEHIP, HIBISCUS AND SPICY HERBS FILIGREED WITH STEWED RHUBARB AND SWEET BERRIES. VERY RIPE AND DENSELY CONCENTRATED, POWERED BY A FINE SEAM OF OAK AND POLISHED CREAMY TEXTURE. UNIQUE AND WORLD CLASS."
97 Points, Platinum Medal, Decanter World Wine Awards

"THIS IS A COMPLEX AND EVER-SO-ATTRACTIVE PINOT WITH A LINGERING FINISH, ZESTY ACIDITY AND SERIOUS LENGTH. A TEN-YEAR PROPOSITION WITH EASE."
96 Points, Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot

"THE WINE SURPRISES WITH AN IMPRESSIVE 'PEACOCK'S TAIL' OF A FINISH. INTENSITY WITHOUT BIGNESS. THIS IS REALLY QUITE BEAUTIFUL PINOT."
95 Points, Huon Hooke, The Real Review

"IT'S QUITE A STRONG AND ALMOST ASSERTIVE PINOT... IMPECCABLY BALANCED AND POISED."
95 Points, Ray Jordan, The Wine Pilot

"A BRIGHT FINISH OF EXCELLENT LENGTH. QUITE FRISKY IN STYLE, BUT DISTINCTIVE TOO."
94 Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
