About This Wine:

From Shaw & Smith’s Lenswood Vineyard, planted in 1999 at 455–500 metres elevation, this site is defined by undulating slopes with east and west-facing aspects and soils of brown loam over clay with broken shale on the ridges. The vineyard spans 20 hectares, predominantly planted to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

The fruit is hand-picked and sorted, with long, slow ferments in a combination of wood and stainless steel, followed by 10 months’ maturation in 500 L puncheons (30% new).

Delicate and perfumed, with a distinct savoury edge, this vintage brings impressive intensity and a slightly darker fruit profile. The palate is supple yet structured, with fine, firmer lines providing shape and persistence, balancing fragrance with depth and quiet power.

"Magic moments with Pinot Noir. Svelte and silky texture, lots of red fruit, sweet and peppery spice, alpine herbs in perfume. The palate more of the raspberry, red cherry of the bouquet, but with touches of charcuterie, white mushroom, dried seaweed, sweet spice and a light dusting of pepper. Tannins are succulent and refreshing, too, and of high quality. Elegance personified."
95 Points, Mike Bennie, Halliday Wine Companion
