Polperro Chenin Blanc

Polperro Chenin Blanc is crafted with a gentle, hands-off approach, with all clones hand-harvested together and whole-bunch pressed to seasoned large-format oak. Fermentation occurs naturally with indigenous yeasts, followed by partial malolactic conversion and occasional bâtonnage to build texture and depth. After eight months in barrel, the wine is bottled with only light filtration, preserving purity and character.

The aromatics open with candy floss and powdered citrus, layered with subtle savoury notes of chicken consommé, lightly honeyed curd, white florals and a hint of fennel pollen. The palate is beautifully textured and waxy, driven by mineral freshness alongside lemon myrtle and gentle herbal tones. A nutty mid-palate complexity — almond and flaxseed — adds richness, balanced by a clean, refreshing finish that keeps the wine poised and vibrant.

Very appetising start, delivering zest, bitter citrus, lemon curd, peanuts in husk, rock salt, ginger, apple, quince and bitter herbs. The wine has a rounded flavour but with a minerally texture, spicy traction, pomelo acidity, pink grapefruit finish and a minty/aniseed cooling aftertaste.
