About This Wine:

Place of Changing Winds Heathcote Syrah is a refined yet deeply expressive Syrah that highlights the elegance possible from the famed red Cambrian soils of the Mount Camel Range in Heathcote.

The fruit is sourced from an east-facing block of mature vines over 20 years old, where the cooler aspect helps temper the natural power of Heathcote while preserving freshness and aromatic complexity. Although the site produces a more structured style than the estate's Harcourt vineyard, the focus remains firmly on finesse rather than weight.

The wine is matured with exceptional patience, spending its first year in a selection of neutral barrels before being transferred to a 2,000-litre Stockinger oak cask for the remainder of its élevage. Bottled after three years in oak, this extended maturation refines the tannins and allows the vineyard's character to shine without excessive oak influence.

The bouquet is intensely perfumed, offering aromas of blackberry, dark plum and black cherry layered with violet, cracked pepper, dried herbs and subtle savoury spice. The palate is concentrated yet beautifully composed, with silky texture, fine-grained tannins and vibrant natural acidity supporting a core of dark fruit and mineral complexity.

Long, savoury and remarkably poised, this is a sophisticated cool-climate Syrah that combines depth, fragrance and precision. Built for the long haul, it possesses the balance and structure to evolve gracefully for decades.
