Piazzo Barbera d'Alba DOC Fil Rus

Piazzo Barbera d'Alba DOC Fil Rus is a vibrant and contemporary expression of 100% Barbera, sourced from vineyards across San Rocco Seno d’Elvio in Alba and parts of the Roero zone around Guarene. Named “Fil Rus” — meaning “red thread” in Piedmontese — the wine symbolises the connection between these neighbouring yet distinctly different terroirs.

Harvested from mid-September, the grapes undergo temperature-controlled fermentation and skin maceration in stainless steel to preserve freshness and varietal purity. The wine then rests for around six months in stainless steel before bottling, maintaining its lively fruit profile and energetic character.

Deep ruby red in colour, the nose is bright and intensely fruited, showing ripe red berries and juicy dark cherry, with subtle spice emerging as the wine develops. The palate is fresh, supple and beautifully drinkable, driven by Barbera’s signature acidity — vibrant yet never excessive — bringing lift, persistence and a deliciously juicy finish.

Approachable, expressive and effortlessly enjoyable, this is a modern Barbera that balances rustic charm with polish and precision. Best served slightly cool to highlight its freshness and energy.
