About This Wine:

A beautifully balanced expression of Shiraz that brings together the distinct strengths of the Barossa and Eden Valleys. The blend is split evenly between Shiraz from 40-plus-year-old vines in the cooler Eden Valley and fruit from 60-plus-year-old vines in the warmer Barossa Valley, creating a wine that combines freshness and structure with depth, richness and concentration.

The fruit is fermented separately in concrete vats before being brought together and matured for 15 months in large 4,500-litre French oak foudres. The result is a refined and generous Barossa Shiraz with impressive depth and complexity, while the use of large-format oak allows the character of the fruit and vineyards to remain firmly at the forefront. A compelling combination of the power and generosity of the Barossa with the aromatic lift and structure of Eden Valley.

The story behind Neldner Road

Neldner Road is the latest chapter from Dave Powell, the legendary Barossa winemaker behind Torbreck and, more recently, Powell & Son. Based in the Barossa, Dave has spent more than four decades working with some of the region’s most exceptional old vineyards, and Neldner Road brings that experience together with a renewed focus on vineyard character, freshness and beautifully balanced wines.

The wines draw on old-vine fruit from the Barossa and Eden Valleys, with traditional winemaking techniques and a hands-off approach allowing each site to speak for itself. The result is classic Barossa wines with plenty of depth and character, but also freshness, finesse and a real sense of place — a new chapter from one of the region’s most respected winemakers.
