Majella Coonawarra Shiraz

Majella Shiraz has earned its place as one of Coonawarra’s benchmark Shiraz wines since its first release in 1991. Crafted in a rich yet refined style, it combines concentration, depth and vibrant fruit with the structure and elegance that define great Coonawarra reds.

Fermentation begins in both static and rotary stainless steel fermenters before finishing in 300-litre barrels, followed by 18 months maturation in a combination of French and American oak hogsheads. Each parcel is individually assessed prior to blending, ensuring balance, complexity and consistency in the final wine.

Deep ruby red with a bright crimson hue, the bouquet reveals layers of blackberry, ripe plum, mocha and spice, framed by subtle hazelnut and vanilla oak. The palate is full-bodied and generously flavoured, with juicy plum and dark cherry fruit wrapped around notes of licorice, cocoa and finely integrated oak.

Bright acidity and youthful energy keep the wine balanced and expressive, while polished tannins provide length and structure. Enjoyable now for its richness and vibrancy, it will continue to evolve beautifully over the next 8–10 years.

A superb match for chargrilled steak, slow-braised beef or aged cheddar.
