Kilikanoon Baudinet GSM

Named in honour of Bruce Baudinet, a Kilikanoon Wines partner and vineyard owner, the Baudinet GSM is a refined Australian interpretation of the classic Southern Rhône blend. The Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro come together with impressive synergy, balance and complexity, creating a wine that is both generous and beautifully composed.

Each variety is harvested separately at optimum flavour ripeness and fermented in small open fermenters, with traditional hand-plunging, délestage and basket pressing used to gently extract colour, flavour and tannin. The individual parcels are then matured for 15 months in seasoned French oak, using both large-format puncheons and hogsheads, with 10% new oak, before the final blend is assembled.

Deep garnet with vibrant crimson hues, the wine opens with crushed granite and graphite alongside mulberry, spiced plum and cinnamon. The palate is concentrated yet medium-bodied, layered with strawberry coulis, native currant and boysenberry, complemented by rosehip, cinnamon bark and subtle tea-leaf notes. Plush, velvety tannins provide shape and carry the wine through a long, elegant finish, with fine oak integration and excellent balance.
