About This Wine:

Jean-Luc Jamet is a highly regarded producer in Côte-Rôtie, known for crafting wines of finesse and depth. Formerly working alongside his brother Jean-Paul Jamet at the renowned Domaine Jamet, the two parted ways in 2013, dividing the family’s 16 hectares of vineyards across Côte-Rôtie and Côtes du Rhône.

The Schiste cuvée comes from a vineyard above Ampuis, planted on schistous soils with vines around 10 years old. The fruit is hand-harvested, fully destemmed and fermented with natural yeasts in stainless steel for around 15 days. The wine is then aged on fine lees for seven months in a mix of 50% oak barrels (10% new) and 50% stainless steel before blending without filtration.

Made from 100% Pinot Noir, it is expressive and savoury, showing raspberry and cherry aromas with subtle smoky, charcuterie-like notes. The palate is lively and structured, with crunchy red berries, gentle spice and earthy tannins. A versatile red suited to dishes such as duck, quail, kangaroo, smoked meats or charred eggplant.
