Hughes & Hughes Lees Aged Chardonnay

Sourced exclusively from the Brinktop Vineyard in the Coal River Valley, this Chardonnay was harvested at 12.3 Baumé and whole-bunch pressed straight to barrel for wild fermentation. Maturation took place in French oak (30% new), with partial malolactic fermentation and ten months on lees adding depth and texture. Bottled unfined and filtered.

This is a strikingly powerful and focused expression, driven by grapefruit, white stone fruits and a line of cool-climate acidity. A whisper of funk and creamy lees influence lend savoury intrigue and impressive complexity to the long, mineral finish.
