Guillaume Vrignaud Les Côtes de Fontenay Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume is a beautifully pure and mineral-driven expression of Fourchaume, showcasing the classic oceanic character of Chablis. Guillaume Vrignaud joined his father in 1999, and together they left the local co-operative to establish their own domaine, working with vines that include plantings dating back to 1955 and 1978.

Made entirely in stainless steel and racked after malolactic fermentation, the wine preserves remarkable freshness and purity. Pale lemon in colour, the nose is lifted and stony, with crushed rock, citrus, sea spray and a subtle iodine character. The palate is elegant and finely textured, with delicate fruit, crisp acidity and a distinctly saline, mineral edge.

There is excellent length and poise here, with the wine's freshness and rocky character suggesting further complexity with a few years in bottle. A refined and beautifully focused Fourchaume that captures the maritime, mineral soul of Chablis.
