Ellis Wines The Secret Release #2 Shiraz

The Shiraz fruit in this bottle was originally designed as a Reserve Release for Heathcote-based Ellis Estate Premium Range. However, due to the high yielding & quality of the vintage, a tiny parcel was held back at the winery, and it was decided that this wine could not be released but rather kept. Long story short, after finding this wine on a recent venture to Heathcote, I introduced it to Craig & Faruk. Together we thought this wine was so wonderful that Purvis Cellars purchased the dormant bottles and Secret Release Shiraz #2 was born.

This Secret Release #2 features a range of aromas and tastes, as well as a softer touch. Clove, cardamom, spice, and violet are all present. A superb vintage with aromatic blue-fruit undertones and a cherry cola thread that leads to a strong core of plum, blueberries, and cassis with vanillin notes. Medium-bodied, yet vibrant, fresh, and approachable. The tannins are mild, subtle, and just enough to persuade. Excellent for drinking.
