About This Wine:

A traditional Barolo from La Morra, produced from Nebbiolo grown across 1.3 hectares of south-west and west-facing vineyards at around 310 metres elevation. The vines were planted between 1970 and 2002 in calcareous-clayey soils, with the fruit harvested by hand around mid-October at a yield of approximately 60 quintals per hectare.

Fermentation is carried out with indigenous wild yeasts, followed by an extended 45–60 days of maceration on skins. The first 10 days involve frequent cap punch-downs, before a further five to seven weeks of traditional submerged-cap maceration. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for around 30 months in a combination of barriques and larger barrels, before being bottled unfiltered in summer and given a further 9–12 months of bottle ageing.

A classically structured Barolo with the perfume, depth and firm tannin that Nebbiolo is renowned for, while the La Morra origin brings an appealing elegance and aromatic finesse. Long maturation gives the wine further complexity and polish, while unfiltered bottling and extended time in bottle allow its character to develop naturally.
