About This Wine:

A wine of depth, nuance and quiet power, Perseverance Shiraz is both a tribute to history and a compelling example of what old vines can achieve in the right hands.

Sourced from a dry-grown vineyard planted in the late 1800s with vine cuttings originally shipped from France, this Shiraz is the product of 130+ years of resilience and adaptation. These venerable vines, interplanted with a small portion of Ugni Blanc, are the first to ripen in the winery each vintage—perhaps a sign they’ve long mastered the rhythm of their site.

In the glass, the wine is beguiling from the outset—aromatic and lifted, yet grounded with intensity. There’s plum, plum skin, boysenberry and black cherry, woven with savoury hints of pepper, dandelion, crushed herbs and graphite. Despite its underlying power, it’s lithe and detailed—muscular, yet elegant. A mid-weight profile leans savoury rather than sweet-fruited, offering intrigue over immediacy.

Vinification is hands-off and respectful: chilled fruit, whole berries, a modest inclusion of whole bunches, wild and cultured ferments, and gentle extraction to preserve the finesse of tannins. A small co-ferment with Ugni Blanc adds a thread of lift and complexity.

Unfined, gently filtered, and vegan friendly, this is a wine that rewards contemplation. Each sip reveals another layer. It's not showy, but it is spellbinding—graceful, distinctive, and unmistakably special. A true reflection of site, history, and patient craft.
