Eldorado Road Beechworth Syrah

The Battely Vineyard is a rare site, planted to four distinct Shiraz clones — PT23, PT10, ESA3012 and the historic Best’s clone. This layered Syrah (with 3% Viognier co-fermented) is the result of four separate ferments, each handled with precision to build complexity and nuance.

A mix of whole berries and whole bunches (up to 40% in some parcels), with both cultured and wild ferments, cold soak where appropriate, and daily hand plunging, each batch spent between 10–15 days on skins. Fermentation took place in open fermenters and an imported Italian concrete tulip, adding further texture and detail.

All parcels were basket pressed to new and seasoned French oak puncheons for 18 months’ maturation on full lees, building depth and savoury structure.

Unfined, gently filtered, vegan-friendly and hand bottled onsite, this is a finely detailed, site-expressive Syrah with precision, texture and quiet power.
