Dexter Black Label Pinot Noir

Dexter Black Label Pinot Noir is crafted from MV6 and Pommard clones, each harvested separately under optimal conditions to preserve purity and balance. A portion of the fruit was destemmed and fermented as whole berries following a short cold soak, while the remaining fruit was fermented as whole bunches to build aromatic complexity and structure. Gentle plunging and careful extraction were followed by maturation in French oak puncheons, with a mix of seasoned and new oak. Extended lees ageing and an additional 10 months in bottle have further refined the wine, adding depth and integration.

The nose is lifted and expressive, revealing dark cherry, five spice, orange rind and exotic floral notes, with the whole-bunch component contributing a distinctive spice and aromatic lift. The palate is layered and concentrated, showing intense dark fruit framed by savoury complexity and finely structured tannins. Exotic spice and subtle fruit sweetness unfold through the mid-palate, leading to a long, persistent finish marked by Asian spice and impressive depth.

A generous vintage has delivered both power and finesse, with chewy tannins and concentrated fruit providing immediate appeal while also supporting careful cellaring. This is a richly layered Pinot Noir that reflects meticulous winemaking and an outstanding growing season.
