Delamere Estate Chardonnay

Every step in crafting this wine is designed to let the vineyard’s unique character shine, showcasing the complexity and texture that cool-climate Chardonnay can express so beautifully. Almost exclusively (96%) sourced from the oldest block — the 1982 planting of Penfolds clone — the fruit was hand-harvested in the cool of the morning, pressed directly into Burgundian-coopered French oak (30% new) and allowed to ferment naturally. Full malolactic fermentation and nine months on lees with intermittent stirring add depth, texture and richness.

The nose is lifted and fragrant, with white nectarine, hints of quince and lemon zest, layered with subtle nutmeg spice. The palate opens with a burst of zesty, vibrant fruit framed by an elegant, creamy mouthfeel. Layer upon layer of flavour unfolds, finishing long with notes of lemon curd and gentle sweet spice. A stunning example of cool-climate, Tasmanian Chardonnay, and a true expression of Delamere’s terroir.
