About This Wine:

A powerful nose, with the depth and complexity of cool-climate shiraz. This wine is spiced with pepper and mineral elements, leaning towards earthy. The co-fermented viognier adds a little richness to both the bouquet and palate, which has a very pleasant sweetness to start, followed by intense fruit and earthy long tannins to complete the delicate structure and overall elegance of the wine.

About the Farr Estate:

The Farr estate, nestled in the Moorabool Valley between Geelong and Ballarat, spans 130 acres with 36 under vine. The region's rich volcanic soil and continental climate, cultivated since the early 1800s, yield premium grapes with distinct flavors and aromas.

Gary and Robyn Farr acquired the original property in 1994, expanding it in 1998 and again in 2011 when Nick and Cassie Farr linked the parcels. Today, the estate grows viognier, chardonnay, pinot noir, gamay, and shiraz, thanks to diverse clones and rootstocks.

Gary Farr, known for his meticulous winemaking, has crafted wine in the Moorabool Valley since 1978. Influenced by his time at Domain Dujac, Cristom, and Calera, and inspired by France’s Rhone Valley, Gary's expertise in shiraz and viognier is renowned. Despite passing the reins to his son, Gary still oversees production, ensuring the wine meets his high standards.

Nick Farr, who grew up working alongside his father, launched his own label, Farr Rising, after gaining experience at Rosemount, Innisfail Vineyards, and international vineyards like Cristom, Au Bon Climat, and Domain Dujac. Nick's dynamic approach blends traditional and modern winemaking techniques, producing wines that reflect the unique terroir of their vineyards.

"Our wines aren't mainstream—they reflect our vineyard, our land, and our tastes. That’s our promise." – Nick Farr.
