Onannon is the venture of Sam Middleton, Kaspar Hermann and Will Byron, who donated the last two or three letters of their surnames to come up with Onannon.
This wine is a blend of three vineyards. The original Red Hill site (23 year old vines, MV6, 777) and a site in Shoreham (19 year old vines, MV6) and a site in Merricks North (20 year old, MV6). The fruit from all sites was handpicked and then transported back to the winery where it sat in a cool room overnight. Also used are 777 and some of the MV6 clone from our Red Hill site as the whole bunch portion.
This wine has an open and elegant bouquet of raspberry, mulberry, cranberry and cherry will lead to great aromatic complexity as the wine matures. Earthly forest floor and hints of toast add another layer of complexity.
The palate is balanced, composed and collected.
