2017 Higher Plane Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon

Juniper Estate acquired the Higher Plane vineyard in 2006, preserving its brand to spotlight the distinctive characteristics of this southern Margaret River site, setting it apart from their original vineyards in Wilyabrup.

This wine is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot sourced from a single vineyard. It was aged in French oak barriques, 20% of which were new, for 15 months.

Emanating elevated aromas of red to black currant and mulberry, intertwined with spicy cigar box, black olive, and bay leaf notes, this wine offers a mid-weighted profile with remarkable richness on the front palate. Generous flavors of ripe mulberry and red to black currant are complemented by hints of bay leaf, cedar, tobacco, and spicy black olives, contributing to its complexity. Well-integrated, fine-grained tannins provide structure for aging, while the finish is characterized by the elegance and class typical of Margaret River wines.
