About This Wine:

An untamed and expressive take on Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, this wine captures the raw energy of the season and the complexity of the Southern Valleys terroir. Fruit was sourced from a range of sites across the Southern Valleys and central Wairau Plains, where clay-loam soils and stony alluvial deposits lend structure and character. Grapes were harvested both by hand and machine—some in the cool of night, others in the warmth of day—before being gently pressed for a modest yield of premium juice.

Fermentation was wild and slow, driven by indigenous yeasts in seasoned French oak barriques, with a small portion of new oak. The wine was left to evolve for over six months, with partial malolactic fermentation and gentle lees stirring adding layers of complexity and texture. It remained on fine lees for a further six months before bottling.

Aromas of rockmelon, ginger, lime zest and toasted coconut leap from the glass, leading to a full-flavoured, juicy palate of lemon curd and tangelo. Lush and textural, yet finely poised, it finishes with chalky oyster shell minerality and a spine of vibrant acidity. A bold, hands-off interpretation of Sauvignon Blanc—distinctly Marlborough, but with a wild, soulful edge.
