About This Wine:

Sculptor and winemaker André Ostertag brings a Burgundian sensibility to Alsace, where he’s transformed his family domaine through biodynamic viticulture and a philosophy rooted in precision and restraint. His 14 hectares of vines, all biodynamically farmed, are an expression of both artistry and terroir.

The Fronholz vineyard, perched just outside the village of Epfig, is known for its light, sandy topsoils over quartz- and clay-rich marl—soils that yield wines of aromatic lift and quiet power. Fruit is hand-harvested and gently vinified, with the wine resting on fine lees in stainless steel for eight months. Though it carries 48 g/L of residual sugar, it remains remarkably elegant and balanced at 12.5% ABV.

In the glass, it glows a golden yellow. The nose is a kaleidoscope of exotic florals, lychee, rose water, ripe apricot and sweet musk. There’s a suggestion of botrytis, adding layers of depth and honeyed texture. On the palate, the richness is cut by minerality and freshness, offering a seamless balance of perfume, sweetness and structure.

Delicious now—especially with Alsatian classics like apple strudel—but destined to evolve for decades, revealing even more nuance and ethereal beauty over time.
