Mahi Alchemy Chardonnay

The goal with this Chardonnay is to maintain a fresh structure with complexity and mouthfeel rather than generating a wine that is overly broad.

This fruit was harvested from a tiny piece of the Badlands vineyard in Marlborough's Rapaura district. The area was previously an old riverbed, thus the soils are rich in river stones as well as silt and clay. Typically, it is a little warmer section of the valley, so the fruit has more tropical overtones.

All grapes were hand-picked and whole-cluster pressed. The resulting juice was transferred directly to French oak barrels and fermented with vineyard-specific yeast. After fermentation, the wine remained on yeast lees for fifteen months until bottling.
