2023 William Downie Bull Swamp Pinot Noir

Established in 1981, this dry grown vineyard thrives on ancient red volcanic soils, nestled at an elevation of 150 meters. Comprising four distinct parcels of Pinot Noir, including two north-facing blocks of MV6 and another of Abel, as well as a sheltered south-facing block of MV6, this vineyard offers a diverse range of expressions.

The resulting wine is a testament to its terroir, boasting a deeply complex profile with aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, plum pudding, and wood spice. On the palate, it reveals a rich texture and exceptionally refined structure. Despite its youth, this wine is remarkably approachable, yet it holds tremendous potential for aging, promising to evolve gracefully over time.
