The site sits along the seam between Beechworth’s ancient decomposed granitic soils from the Devonian period and younger colluvial soils of clay, silt and sand. Sentio and Foreign Friends have managed the vineyard since 2023, bringing a considered approach to this distinctive site.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003eThe Nebbiolo was hand-picked, carefully sorted and destemmed before fermenting in an open-top concrete vessel. After three weeks on skins it was basket pressed and matured in a combination of used French oak, including a 1200L Grenier, alongside a 675L Magnum ceramic ovoid and an Oeuf de Beaune concrete ovoid. The wine spent 14 months on fine lees, followed by three months in stainless steel before being bottled in July.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePerfumed, savoury and beautifully structured, this is a seriously classy expression of Nebbiolo. Rose petal and lifted florals lead into red cherry, cranberry and wild strawberry, with dried herbs, spice and earthy savoury notes adding depth. The palate is vibrant and layered, combining pure red fruit with fine, firm tannins and bright tension.
