About The Wine
2021 ABV 12.0% Australia Murray Darling New South Wales Pinot GrigioDescription
Winemaker Kevin McCarthy developed a name for himself , one of the first producers in Australia to play around with skin-contact whites with Quealy. His introduction to Mildura was the early 1990s, looking for fruit to make up for a poor Mornington vintage. Here he found a second home, amongst Italian varietal pioneers. Sourcing his grapes for Mandi from the Chalmers and Pusat family vineyards this is an exciting project to keep an eye on. Harvested at dawn, the fruit was immediately transferred to the winery to be gently drained and pressed. Cool fermentation was followed by a short time on lees before clarifying with a crossflow filter, cold stabilization and bottling.
It’s a simple winemaking sequence that lays bare the grape quality. Ripe orchard fruit flavours are beautifully tempered by crisp citrus notes and a trace of minarality. Fresh and well balanced, it has a zesty dry finish that will leave you impatient for the next sip.
