Morgan Simpson was founded by SA businessman George Morgan (since retired) and winemaker Richard Simpson, who is a graduate of CSU. The grapes are sourced from the Clos Robert Vineyard, planted to shiraz (9ha), cabernet sauvignon (3.5ha), mourvedre (2.5ha) and chardonnay (2.1ha), established by Robert Allen Simpson in 1972.
This full bodied regional shiraz ahs spent 18 months in American hogsheads (30% new) which adds enormously to the wine's concentration, with ripe flavours of blackstrap licorice, plums & blackberry. Reasonable alcohol level and freshness for a wine this size.
