The wine is obtained from a mixture of various clones of Sangiovese grapes cultivated on the hills of the Maremma. This highly regarded variety has attracted the attention of all ampeleographers.
Originated in Tuscany it is cultivated throughout the region and widely diffused, in numerous clones, in the Tuscan Maremma. The hot arid climate of the Grosseto area, with few precipitations, acts as a limiting factor on production. This is a benefit for the quality of the grapes. Especially for Sangiovese grapes.
