Jane Eyre is an Australian winemaker based in Burgundy. After working vintages at Cullen in Margaret River, and Felton Road and Ata Rangi in New Zealand, Jane went to Burgundy in 2004 for a job with Domaine des Comtes Lafon. She then took over as assistant winemaker at Domaine Newman, and has slowly developed her own négociant business, renting a small space in a winery in Bligny-lès-Beaune with Dominique Lafon.
This release of a Yarra Valley Pinot Noir under comes from Syme on Yarra. It is east facing with an altitude of 115m it is heavy clay sub soil with a silty clay loam top. The fruit is dry grown and handpicked. It is 70% destemmed and Jane gets in the tank to do a few gentle punch downs, it is left on skins for 20 days and is aged in Barriques for 10 months (15% new) before being racked once. No fining or filtration and minimal SO2 is added at bottling
