Chiroubles is the highest in altitude and perhaps most picturesque of the Beaujolais crus. Altitude – and the cool nights it engenders – is key in warm vintages such as 2018. From vines over 60 years old.
Aromas of violets, red cherries, strawberries, subtle spice with some floral notes.
The palate is full of red cherry and currant flavours again with dusty earth and spice that creates more interest. Underlying acidity is balanced with grainy tannin. Excellent length with a savoury and vibrant finish.
