The fruit was sourced from four McLaren Vale vineyards ranging in age from 30 to 55 years. Each parcel of fruit was harvested and handled separately. After fermenting on skins for 10 days, the fruit was transferred to a combination of new, second- and third-use French oak barrels, of which 15% were new. It spent 15 months in barrel prior to blending.
Aromas of Dark cherries, plum, spice, perfume, flowers and dark chocolate. One mouthful delivers a complex wine with wonderful red and dark fruit flavours combining with spice, dark chocolate and a hint of coffee. The finish is long and smooth. A beautifully balanced shiraz.
