Planting of vineyards in the Eden Valley has been limited by the presence of shallow rock, scarcity of water for irrigation and the imposing eucalyptus trees. The result is scattered, small parcels of vines thoughtfully planted in ideal sites. The Eden Valley has rightly become recognised for producing wines of purity, complexity, and elegance from some of the oldest vines in the world, it is certainly a challenging place to grow grapes, but brilliance is often born out of adversity.
The AB Eden Grenache comes from old Barossa vines that are incredibly resilient. Ours are grown without supplementary irrigation and have developed dep roots over their 50-year lifespan. The 2018 vintage Grenache has depth and complexity which only comes from old vine material and a beautiful balance and freshness from ideal growing conditions. Aged in seasoned French oak barrels to enhance texture and complexity without overpowering the natural elegance.
