Poonawatta Estate
Four Corners
Shiraz
2009
Eden Valley
Australia
Alcohol % : 14.5
Volume : 750 ml
Halliday Rating : -
Tasting Notes:
Formerly named Monties Block, this Shiraz reflects the four corners of the Eden Valley the fruit is sourced from.
This has a deep strong purple colour. The aromas bounce out of the glass carrying juby blackberry with a dash of pepper and flick of aniseed.
Full bodied, smooth, luxurious and expensive tasting this rich, ripe wine has black fruit, toasty/chocolate oak threaded with subtle regional pepper. Dusty tannins weave their way providing a nice supporting role rather than being the main act....seen but not heard you might say.
Altogether this is a super wine, oozing class which is to be expected because Poonawatta make some of the finest cool climate Shiraz in the country.
Drink now with 20-30 minutes decanting and/or put some away in the cellar for another 4-5 years plus.
