Tasting Notes:
This winery has achieved a Five-Star rating from James Halliday and Purvis Cellars is pleased to be able to offer this limited 'Cellar Door Release' wine to our members.
Petite Sirah, otherwise known as Durif, was named by Dr Francios Durif after a seed he extracted from an old French Variety, Peloursin, was pollinated by Syrah.
This is a wine of flavour, structure, balance, finesse and length.
A far cry from the monstrous Northern Victoria Durifs, this has reflections of the Rhone Valley in France and the Douro Valley of Portugal. However this wine is not shy on flavour or palate weight. The nose is alive with spice, chocolate and plum. Rich and full on the palate with chocolate vanilla bean and plum. Undercurrents of pepper and anise with a long, firm and dry finish. Great stuff.
An excellent wine with Kangaroo or Venison
